Dr .Kanak Rele basically has not learnt Mohiniyattam but Kathakali female roles from Panchaali Karunakara Panikkar, and that's evident in her performance. We think Smt Sunanda Nair has only followed the old style of Dr Rele made with the help of the late Kavalam,in creating her own choreographies. And when she performs ,instead of the Kathakali female style movements, she imitates the Kalamandalam style and some of the distinct movements of dancers such as Smt Bharati Shivaji a lot. It appears from the review that the Kerala based critic has written the article with his prejudged mind and hence it is nothing but a sponsored review. As disciples of Guru Sathyabhama teacher and office bearers of the Trust, we are pained to read it in an online periodical like Narthaki,as it is framed without cross checking facts and considering the history of Mohiniyattam tradition of Kerala.

Sasi Kumar Venat,

Secretary,

Padmasree Kalamandalam Sathyabhama Teacher Trust,

Edappally,Cochin-682024 E mail:kalapadmanabha@gmail.com

Sasikumar Venathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17976106239945553110noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5324394209933710979.post-90880748959160032552022-09-16T18:08:22.201+05:302022-09-16T18:08:22.201+05:30my knowledge about arts are very limited.I enjoy a...my knowledge about arts are very limited.I enjoy allmost all the temple arts.My sisters were good dancers.one sister learned Mohiniyattam.Again my knowledge about mohiniyattam is a superfluous one. I am sure about it's origin, connection with sopanam &as keralas own dance form!Once i wished to see Sonal mansing who visited Ettumanur temple of which its sanctorum walls speak about the thanda a&other dances.sculptors & painters contributed so much to the dance forms. We can't accuse any attempt to modify it in one way or other example inclusion of thyagaraja keerthanam.
my special thanks to this introduction of Kanakrele.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5324394209933710979.post-22340759439322800992022-09-16T18:05:29.201+05:302022-09-16T18:05:29.201+05:30Highly informative
